Sized for a shop apron, this handy reference is packed with tips and answers to all of your woodworking questions in an easy to read and quick to find format. At-a-glance access to everything the woodworking professional or hobbyist needs to know is included in this reference. Details on the availability and use of various kinds of wood, hand and motorized tools, glues, wood fillers, and adhesives are provided along with pointers on sharpening edges, concocting effective solvents, and creating an efficient workspace. Chapters are color-coded and tabbed for easy accessibility, and the spiral binding allows the pages to lie flat on the workbench for hands-free reading. A reference section provides charts, formulas, conversion tables, and geometry pointers to refresh the forgetful craftsman, and a comprehensive glossary offers rapid access to a wealth of information.

I am new to woodworking and find this helpful. It has some great information including:

Popular wood species, their properties, workability, movement, weight, etc.

Woodworking adhesive chart. What are the bonding times, minimum application temprature, water resistance, sandability of all kinds of glues.

Drilling chart -- different speeds for different species of wood.

But it also has stuff which really isn't "quick reference" material. For example, they have a section on hand tools and a section on power tools explaining what they are (I have never wondered what a tape measure was for). They have a chapter on different joints but this is not something you keep going back to. For the most part, these chapters are more an intro to woodworking, not a reference.

I am glad I purchased this and will use it, but I would much prefere they did away with the basic "intro to woodworking" chapters and:

1) Expanded the section on wood species to include about 20 more.

2) Expand the Finishing chapter to add pictures with before and after with some of the finishes.

3) Router section. Explination of different bits, speed charts, etc.

4) quick list of common mistakes and how to fix them. For example, if you get end-grain tear out from a router, what are the things you can do to fix it?

If they did this, I would give it five stars.

Great little book.
Very informative.
Nice to have around the woodshop!
I would recommend this to any woodworker!
What a terrific reference guide. It was recommended in my woodworking class and soon every one had one. My expert woodworker friend ordered 1 for himself!
This handbook has proven to be a helpful reference when I've needed quick information about choosing the right drill bit, tool or technique at home. It fits nicely in a shop apron or tool bucket and the coated pages are very durable.
its good enough
This is a handy guide to have when you need to know what you need to do a project.
Showed There Was Such A Thing As A 60d(60 Penny) Nail ! That Spruce Is A Good Wood ! Saw Blades ! Drill Bits ! Screws ! A Few Rarely Seen ! But All Fascinating ! Realized A Few Things ! All Good ! Learned A Lot ! Thanks ! A Keeper !
I must say that there is some information in the reference that is pertainent to my needs. that is not to say that it does not suite someone else much more. For the most part, it was not really what I was looking for. The cost was right, the delivery swift, I have to credit the seller for that.
